Job Overview

Status: Temporary Full-time (35 h/w)

Salary: $31.03 - $54.98 per hour, according to years of experience.

Reporting to the manager of social services, psychology, and nutrition, the social worker will be responsible for the psychosocial assessment and identification of the psychosocial and financial needs of patients and their families. We adopt a systemic approach in our work and are committed to providing the highest quality of care to children and their families.

Responsibilities

  • Assess and identify the social and financial needs of families
  • Support more vulnerable families during their journey at Shriners (from the first outpatient clinic appointment to post-surgery);
  • Draft the psychosocial treatment plan taking into account the family's resources and living environment;
  • Represent families to the medical and interdisciplinary team;
  • Promote mutual communication between the medical team and the family;
  • Refer and guide families to community resources and connect with professionals already involved;
  • Intervene in crisis situations;
  • Support parents in their questions regarding their parental role;
  • Liaise with the transport and accommodation team;
  • Explore possible solutions and direct families to appropriate resources;
  • Ensure respect for different cultural and linguistic realities and the rights of assisted families;
  • Participate in clinical research, various committees, and quality improvement projects.

Qualifications

  • Must hold a university degree in social work
  • Must be a member of the Ordre professionnel des travailleurs sociaux du Québec
  • Minimum one (1) year of experience in social work.
  • Experience in the health network is an asset
